Craft Beer supports the #NationalTimeOut campaign
Today we are joining the #NationalTimeOut campaign calling for a #NationalRentFree period for UK hospitality businesses. This campaign’s proposal is critical for thousands of pub, bar and restaurant businesses and potentially 2million jobs in the sector.
These pubs, bars and restaurants are absolutely critical to the survival of the craft beer industry as we know it. They’re not only the number 1 sales channel for all the breweries you love, they’re also the heart and soul of culture of craft beer. Everything we do as festivals – the breweries, the food, the vibe, the reason we love doing what we do, starts in the pubs, bars and kitchens around the UK and the world.
This campaign for a #NationalTimeOut brings our indy sector – craft beer – alongside almost all parts of the hospitality industry. The campaign has been backed by everyone from Dishoom and Caravan to Burger King and Pret a Manger. This campaign and proposal has been put forward by the Hospitality Union ( you can read the letter sent to Chanceller Rishi Sunak here) , which is a quickly formed group of thousands of operators across the UK.
We know everyone in the country has been hit by this crisis yet hospitality as an industry was hit first, hardest and has been highlighted by the government as most likely to be the last to return. Without revenues, there has to be a plan with private and commercial landlords or, put simply, your favourite spot will likely be an empty premises come 2021.
Over the last 48 hours or so, we’ve worked to organise a whole lot of craft breweries and businesses to back the campaign today. We hope you can join us and make as big a noise as possible, to raise the profile of this issue.
Thanks. We can’t wait to have a beer with you all.
